Gadsden Voters Closer to Having Say in How BoE Members are Selected

Thursday, March 29, 2018

Gadsden voters are one step closer to having a say in whether the city’s Board of Education members are elected or appointed. A bill sponsored by Representative Mack Butler was given final approval on Tuesday by State Senate with a unanimous 29 to nothing vote.

The bill will require the City of Gadsden to hold a referendum on the issue at the earliest convenient  opportunity and will tie the school board members to gadsden seven city council districts. The bill will now go to Governor Ivey who is expected to sign the bill.
