Rainbow City Elementary School Teacher is Finalist for Alabama Teacher of The Year

A local elementary school teacher is 1 of 16 finalists for the title of Alabama Teacher of the Year. The list was released today and included Donna Holderfield who is a fourth grade teacher at John Jones Elementary School in Rainbow City.

She and the 15 other finalists were chosen from more than 170 educators who were nominated from around the state. The next step in the process will be to narrow the field of 16 down to a "final four", then the Teacher of the Year will be announced in a special ceremony on May 9th in Montgomery.

Alabama's Teacher of the Year serves as an ambassador for education and the teaching profession, and also becomes a candidate for the National Teacher of the Year award.
