Tax Deadline Extended to April 17th

Tuesday, April 17, 2018

Tax season is almost over. Many are rushing to get federal forms completed and sent off, in order to get a maximum refund. The deadline to get your taxes completed is usually April 15th, but this year, since that date fell on a Sunday and today is Emancipation Day in the District of Columbia, the IRS extended the deadline to April 17th. Emancipation Day commemorates the end of slavery in the nation’s capital.

If you need even more time to file your taxes you can fill out form 4868 to get an automatic 6 month extension.
