Honoring Barbara Bush
Flags around the country are flying at half-staff through Saturday in memory of former First Lady Barbara Bush. Barbara Bush is remembered as being a force of a woman, beloved former first lady, and devoted to her family. She died yesterday at the age of 92. Bush was diagnosed with Graves’ Disease in the 1980's and also had congestive heart failure along with COPD that affected her lungs.
Born Barbara Pierce in Queens, New York she was 16 when she met a young man at a Connecticut Country Club who changed her life forever. She and George H. W. Bush were married 73 years. Barbara was one of only two women to be the wife and mother of a United States President.
Her son and former president, George W. Bush says, she was a... “fabulous First Lady and a woman unlike any other who brought levity, love, and literacy to millions.”
