Man Convicted in Pipe Bomb Murder Executed
The man convicted in the 1989 mail bombing death of a federal judge is put to death. Authorities say 83-year-old Walter Moody was killed by lethal injection last night. The execution was delayed two hours after the US Supreme Court issued a temporary stay.
In 1989, Moody mailed a pipe bomb to the home of federal appeals judge Robert Vance, killing him. Moody was convicted in both federal and state court in Vance’s death. He also killed a Georgia attorney with a pipe bomb.
