Wednesday, April 25, 2018

The 5 year old Sylacauga boy reported missing more than 24 hours ago is found safe in another state.  Now, police are working to bring the child's accused abductors to justice. Sylacauga Police say Malachi Quintanilla was taken yesterday by a woman believed to be related to the boy’s biological father. He was taken from a bus stop near Autumn Trace Apartments in Sylacauga, where he lived.

Quintanilla was found hours later in a car with his father in Mississippi. Police arrested the father on an Interference with Child Custody warrant in Coosa County, where he awaits extradition to Talladega County. Sylacauga Police say the man will face additional charges related to the abduction.

Authorities believe the boy was being taken to New Orleans, where the father lives. The boy is with Child Protective Services in Mississippi.
