A Huntsville teen is rescued after falling into the river at Little River Canyon. Park Personnel was contacted Tuesday evening after the 17 year old and 2 friends jumped into the river down stream of Little River Falls. When they tried to climb out of the water, the 17 year old fell back in and was swept down river. Rescue Personnel found the teen under an overhang along the east side of the river.
Park Ranger Larry Beane says that medical personnel stayed with him throughout the extrication and transport to the staging area. The Park Service reminds everyone that this time of year, river levels can fluctuate quickly. With the large amount of rain we have gotten over the last several days, Little River has experienced some record high water levels.
