A man who escaped from a Georgia jail is in custody along with two others in Cherokee County. Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver says the US Marshal’s Service contacted his office on Thursday about an escapee from the Atlanta area. After searching for most of the day, Cherokee and Chattooga County Georgia deputies found Doyle Tant in a vehicle on Highway 35 near Blanche.

Tant was arrested along with Desiray Abernathy, and Shannon Lemos.  All three are charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Abernathy and Lemos are also charged with hindering prosecution. Tant will be extradited back to Georgia once he makes bond in Cherokee County.
