Oxford High Students Teach Elementary School Kids About Heart Health

A class project has students stepping into the shoes of a teacher. Students at Oxford High School are participating in Project CEO. This project was developed by Oxford High School teacher Theresa Shadrix. Students come up with a way to educate the community on a topic of their choice, and his year, the students chose heart health.

After months of preparation, the students took the information they learned and presented it to fifth and sixth graders at Oxford Elementary School. Junior Chloie Taylor says they enjoyed teaching the students about this important topic. The students were divided into four stations. Each station offered the fifth and sixth graders a different activity. One station had students race and see how exercise is good for the body.

Another offered nutrition examples and gave the students a chance to see how popular snacks can contain large amounts of sugar and salt.
