Supreme Court Rules in Favor of Colorado Baker Refusing Service to Same-Sex Couple

Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall is applauding the U.S. Supreme Court ruling in favor of a Colorado business owner who refused to prepare a cake for a same-sex wedding. Alabama is one of 20 states that filed legal opinions in support of the business owner’s First Amendment Rights. 


Last year, the Colorado Civil Rights Commission said baker Jack Phillips violated state law by refusing to bake a cake for the same-sex couple based on his religious beliefs. However, the Supreme Court today disagreed, overturning that ruling.
