In the race for Governor, Incumbent Republican Governor Kay Ivey will face off against Democratic nominee Walt Maddox. Ivey has lead the state since last year when Governor Robert Bentley resigned amid allegations of ethics violations. Maddox has most recently served as the Mayor of Tuscaloosa.
And as a reminder, some of the races were not decided last night and will require a runoff. Here’s some key information for what comes after last night’s primary election. The primary runoff election is scheduled for July 17th. The last day to register to vote in the primary runoff election is July 2nd. July 12th is the last day for voters to make application for an absentee ballot. July 16th is the last day for voter to hand-deliver or postmark an absentee ballot.
The general election will take place on November 6th. October 22nd is the voter registration deadline. November 1st is the last day for voter to make application for an absentee ballot. November 5th is the deadline for voters to hand-deliver or postmark an absentee ballot.
