Cost-Share Program Helping Certified Organic Businesses to Recoup Costs

A cost-share program is making it easier for certified organic businesses to recoup the costs associated with required U.S. Department of Agriculture certification. The Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries is overseeing the program to reimburse organic growers and handlers for a portion of their certification costs. 

 

ADAI will administer the funds on a first-come, first-served basis until all of the money is gone. The rebates will cover 75% of certification expenses up to $750. 

 

To be eligible for the grant, the grower or handler must have paid the certification costs between October 1, 2016 and September 30, 2017, or during the period of October 1, 2017 to September 30, 2018. 

 

Applications and information can be requested by emailing Johnny.Blackmon@agi.alabama.gov. The deadline to apply is September 30th.
