Director of Gadsden Public Library Steps Down

Friday, June 15, 2018

After more than a decade of dedication and hard work, the Director of the Gadsden Public Library has decided that it’s time to move on. Amanda Jackson was named the library director 12 years ago after working in the Gadsden Public Library for one year.

Jackson told TV24 today that she has accepted a job as the director of the public library in Chesapeake, Virginia. Jackson said the role of public libraries has changed over the years.

Over the years, Jackson has worked to bring many interesting and fun programs and events to the Gadsden Public Library for people of all ages. Just last year under Jackson’s guidance, the library hosted 1,065 separate events.

That’s compared to the less than 100 they hosted about 15 years ago. Jackson noted that she could not have pulled off any of the events without her terrific staff members. July 19th will be Jackson’s last day on the job. The city has not yet named a new library director.
