New Megasite for Industrial Businesses in Development in Etowah County

Etowah County is showing off what is called the largest tract of property available for industrial development in Northeast Alabama. Governor Kay Ivey was on hand for the celebration of the Little Canoe Creek Industrial Park Megasite.

The Etowah County Commission is developing the 1,100 acres for industrial use. The megasite is located adjacent to Interstate 59 with access to Highway 11 and Norfolk Southern Railway. This is also one of only seven industrial development sites in Alabama with railroad access.

While the purpose of this project is to recruit new industry to Etowah County, Ivey also stressed that a site like this one is good for the entire state. Endangered species and cultural wetland analysis of the property have been completed as well as water and sewer studies.

Right now, an access road is being constructed and the land is being cleared for future development.
