President Trump's Supreme Court Nomination Meets Backlash

Wednesday, July 11, 2018

President Donald Trump has selected Federal Judge Brett Kavanaugh to replace retiring Justice Anthony Kennedy on the US Supreme Court. Judge Kavanaugh serves on the US Court of Appeals for the DC Circuit. Judge Kavanaugh was also a former aide to President George W. Bush and one time investigator for President Bill Clinton.

Although President Trump’s nomination is already receiving backlash, JSU’s Political Science Professor Lori Owens explains why it’s important for people to keep an open mind. Judge Kavanaugh's nomination must now be approved by the US Senate before he becomes a member of the Nation's highest court.
