More than 40 officers from three departments participated in a special training course with assistance from the FBI. The Calhoun County Sheriff’s office along with Oxford and Anniston Police Departments participated in a series of exercises to better equip them for any situation.
This course is a critical step to ensure that law enforcement is prepared for various threats including an active shooter. The inter-agency training also allows all the departments to work together collectively. Anniston Chief of Police Shane Denham explains why this is a critical course.
The training exercises also helps the three departments come together to trade and learn different tactics that another department might not know of. As a part of the training officers were in real life situations with role players who were hostages and active shooters.
