A 30-year-old Indiana murder case has been solved with an arrest in East Alabama. Calhoun County authorities arrested 56-year-old Barbara Brewster in connection to the 1988 murder of Miriam Rice.
According to the St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office, Rice left her Indiana home on June 24, 1988 to walk her dog and never returned. Rice’s body was found four days later with multiple skull fractures. Rice was 4 months pregnant.
Brewster was arrested in Calhoun County and awaits extradition to Indiana. No motive has yet been revealed.
