Gadsden Man In Custody After Car Chase

A Gadsden man is now behind bars after leading officers on a chase. Joie Gowens is charged with attempting to elude, resisting arrest, violation of the prohibition law, receiving stolen property to the first degree, and several traffic-related offenses. 

 

Police said that Gowens was driving a stolen 1998 Ford Ranger officers in Cave Springs, Georgia tried to stop him. Cherokee County officers joined the pursuit when Gowens entered in Alabama on Highway 411. 

 

Gowens also had existing warrants for probation violation and failure to appear on theft of property charges. Gowens is being held at the Cherokee County Detention Center where his bond has not been set.
