Gadsden Police Arrest Man Connected to May Arson Case

After nearly two months of investigating, Gadsden police have a man in custody in connection to an arson case. Zachary Miller has been charged with one count of Arson to the first degree, two counts of Arson to the second degree, and three counts of Attempted Murder.

On May 22, Gadsden Fire Department responded three different times to fires at a home in the 3500 block of Madison Avenue. At the time of the first fire, four people were inside the home but managed to make it out safely. Miller lived at the house along with three people including a 12-year-old and 14-year-old.

According to Gadsden detectives, Miller’s motive was for everyone in the household to be killed in the first fire. The investigation is still ongoing and Miller is being held in the Etowah County Jail with bond being set at $400,000.
