Sardis Students Tie for First Place in Financial Fitness Tournament
Sardis High School students tied for first place in an annual tournament. Family Savings Credit Union sponsored a group of students to compete in the League of Southeastern Credit Unions Financial Fitness Tournament in Orlando Florida.
The tournament is designed to promote student interest in personal finance, economics and consumer affairs. Sardis High School Business teacher Natalie Strickland says it’s never to early for students to learn about money. Strickland also says it’s important for students to understand finances.
This was the students first time participating in the fitness tournament but it was the school’s second time in a row winning the competition. The team of three students prepared for the competition in six weeks using a 1,000 question study guide.
Junior Sadie Ross shares what this experience taught her. The Sardis team tied for first place in the tournament with Colonial High School from Florida. The teams went head to head for more than 40 rounds without missing a question before the tie was called.
