Multi-State Law Enforcement Initiative Focuses on Speed Enforcement
Operation Southern Shield is now in full effect on highways across the south. Starting today, Alabama and Georgia joined forces with Florida, South Carolina, and Tennessee in a week long speed enforcement operation. Law enforcement will be pulling over drivers who are driving above legal speed limits on local roads, major highways, and interstates.
The main focus is to get motorist to slow down with efforts to reduce crashes and provide a safer experience for drivers. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says speeding killed more than 10,000 people in the US in 2016 and speeding was also a factor in 27% of fatal crashes in the nation.
