JSU Board of Trustees Searching for a Fast Track to Recovery


Jacksonville State University Board of Trustees is looking for ways to fast track recovery from the March 19th tornado that devastated the campus. Trustees today passed a resolution asking Jacksonville City leaders to approve a moratorium for on an ordinance limiting the number of people who are not related to live in one rental property. The university believes they need the 18 month moratorium to get student housing back on track.

Beehler also said they’ve reached out to local pastors to ask if church members might be willing to host students this fall. He also talked about plans to demolish the iconic Merrill Hall in order to begin the rebuilding process. JSU is also trying to start a public fundraising campaign to help rebuild the storm ravaged campus.
