Mayors from across the region gathered under one roof today at the Oxford Civic Center. The state of the cities was open to the public. The mayors talked about what all is going on in the area and exchanged ideas with members of the community. Oxford Mayor Alton Craft talks about the importance of this type of collaboration among local leaders.

Weaver Mayor Wayne Willis spoke to us about something he called an important subject, which is the need to recruit new industry. Willis said the region needs to better prepare and train the workforce for higher paying jobs like manufacturing. Mayors from across the region meet face-to-face on quarterly basis but this is only the second time they’ve held this public state of the cities forum.
