Birmingham Student Gifted Car After Boss Sees Commitment to Job

A Birmingham-area college student is getting more than just a paycheck after he decided to go the extra mile to make it to work on time. Walter Carr’s vehicle broke down the night before his first day at a new job, so he began walking at midnight to try and make it to work by 8am. When Carr’s boss found out through a Facebook post, he rewarded the new employee with a Ford Escape to drive.

In the end, Carr didn’t have to walk the entire way to work. Some police officers saw the young man on the road around 4am and took him to breakfast and then made sure he got to work on time. The young man’s family moved to the Birmingham area after losing everything in Hurricane Katrina.
