A virtual classroom has been created to give students a new learning opportunity. The Excel Virtual Academy is a public school that was created to provide a high quality education with flexible and differentiated learning opportunities. The virtual program offers blended learning which combines online learning with face-to-face instruction.
The Academy provides parents and students with options of personalized education plans beyond the traditional classroom setting. Coordinator Natasha Scott says students enjoy the flexibility the most.
While school starts in Calhoun County August 7th, Scott says the Excel Academy does not have an enrollment deadline. The program is available for all students in Calhoun County Schools from 6th to 12th grade.
Students who are enroll in Excel will still have access to such extracurricular activities as band and sports. Scott also says the Academy is working to form more clubs for the students currently enrolled.
Scott says she hopes by the end of the school year to have at least 250 students enrolled in the Virtual Academy. For more information on the Excel Academy, visit the Calhoun County School’s website.
