Georgia State Troopers Focusing on New Hands-Free Law
Georgia State Troopers have written 1,000 tickets under the new Hands-Free law since it went into effect July 1st. During the month of July, Georgia law enforcement gave out 2,900 warnings.
People who travel to Georgia frequently need to remember the Do’s and Don’ts of the Hands-Free Law. Under the new law, the driver is not allowed to hold or support any wireless device with your hands or body, record or watch a video nor write, send or read a text message while holding your device.
The driver is allowed to use all hand-free features in cars as well as a smart watch. The new Hands-Free Law also allows the driver to talk on the phone using an earpiece.
