New Open Spaces Sacred Places Location Being Added to Weiss Lake

The Community Foundation of Northeast Alabama took this week to celebrate the 100th year legacy of Susie Parker Stringfellow by holding another special groundbreaking ceremony. Members of the Centre community and Cedar Grove Baptist Church participated in the groundbreaking of a Sacred Place at Weiss Lake.

The main goal of the Open Space is to give people a destination off an accessible pathway for experiencing tranquility in nature. The facility will be open to the public with hopes of bringing different communities together. Civitan President Bob Pickerel says the area is the quietest place he’s ever visited.

Master Gardeners from Cherokee County have also put together a floor plan for the landscaping of the facility. Construction will begin in September on the new Open Spaces Sacred Places facility.
