Tomorrow is the first day of school for students in Calhoun County and school bus safety is taking the front seat. School is back in session which means buses will be back on the roads. Delays are expected during the first few days as bus drivers learn their routes and students know what exact time to be at their bus stop. GPS systems have been added to the 150 school buses that will notify officials where the school bus is in real time as well as how fast the bus is moving.
Calhoun County’s Transportation Director, Banyon Allison, wants everyone to be aware of the school buses. Allison also says people should give themselves an extra 10 to 15 minutes to get to work during the school year.
