Grant Awarded for Improvements to AL Airports

Senator Richard Shelby announced today that 23 airports throughout Alabama will get a lift from Federal Aviation Administration grants awarded by the US Department of Transportation. The grants total more than $13.5 million and will contribute to various airport improvements such as infrastructure construction, safety advances, and equipment acquisition.

The Centre-Piedmont-Cherokee County Regional Airport received a grant for $150,000 to support access road improvements. The Ashland-Lineville Airport was awarded a total of $412,000 for apron and taxiway construction. Senator Shelby says the improvements will help drive growth in local communities and directly impact the quality of life for residents and visitors.
