Cherokee County Man Arrested on Animal Cruelty Charges

The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office received several calls of horses out on County Road 14 roaming freely. When deputies arrived they noticed the horses were in poor condition. Investigators quickly opened an animal cruelty investigation on the owner, David Waller.

A search warrant was executed for the residence and the property. During the search, other animals like birds and reptiles were found and handed over to Cherokee County Animal Control.

Waller is charged with Aggravated Animal Cruelty and allowing livestock to run at-large. Waller was arrested in Georgia by the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office and is waiting to be extradited to the Cherokee County Detention Center.
