JSU Marching Southerners Start Fundraiser to Offset Cancellation of Festival

Jacksonville State University’s Marching Southerners were one of the many programs impacted by the March 19th tornado. Because of the significant damage to the university campus, the Southerners were unable to host what would have been their 49th annual JSU Honor Band Festival.

It’s the largest fundraiser held by the band that provides much needed funding for travel, music, instrument purchase and repair, uniforms and more. The Marching Southerners have put together a Fly Away Giving Challenge to raise funds to offset the loss from cancelling the JSU Honor Band Festival.

A goal of $10,000 was reached in less than 24 hours from an anonymous donor who then pledged to match the public’s donations dollar for dollar. A new goal of $20,000 has been set in order for the Southerners to have the appropriate funding for the year.
