Man and Woman Arrested After Car Chase


A man and woman are now behind bars after leading police on a chase. Ryan Padgett of Leesburg and Jobe Whorten of Centre were both charged with Drug Trafficking, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

The car chase began in Etowah County and crossed over into Cherokee County. It is unclear why the chase initially started. Cherokee County deputies and investigators responded to assist with the chase that ended near County Road 24.

According to Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shavers, Padgett was additionally charged with Promoting Prison Contraband and Possession with Intent to Distribute. Both Padgett and Whorten were taken to the Cherokee County Detention Center. Whorten’s bond has been set at $76,000 and Padgett’s bond is $93,000.
