Police Chase Concludes with Arrest of Gadsden Man

A Gadsden man lead police on a chase from Leesburg into Etowah County. D’Anthony Smith has been charged with Carrying a Pistol without a permit, Carrying a pistol by a violent felon, Selling Prohibited Liquors, along with Attempting to Elude. 

 

According to investigators, Leesburg police spotted Smith traveling at a high rate of speed with no license plate. Once the chase crossed into Etowah County on 411, authorities from Centre, Gadsden and Etowah County deputies joined in. 

 

Shortly after, Smith lost control of the vehicle and went down an embankment near Hooks Lake Road where he then tried to get away on foot. Authorities caught Smith after a brief foot chase and booked him into the Cherokee County Detention Center. Smith is currently out on an $8,500 bond.
