Awards Given to Etowah County Volunteers and Officials Who Helped the Community


The Etowah County Local Emergency Planning Committee and the Etowah County Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster held their third annual exhibition meeting. The meeting allowed members of both organizations to coordinate with vendors as well as other members. During the exhibition meeting, several people were recognized for representing a level of community service that exceeded the expectation of their peers and the public at large.

Sheriff Todd Entrekin won the Etowah County LEPC Chairman’s Award, Susan Carter, of the Etowah County Long Term Recovery Committee won the Etowah County VOAD Chairman’s Award and the City of Southside and the City of Rainbow City won the Gadsden-Etowah County EMA Director’s Award.
