JSU Students Give Out Backpacks Filled with Supplies

Tuesday, August 14, 2018

Some JSU students are giving back to those in need as the new school year gets underway. Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority teamed up with the JSU football team to help families and students in need by stuffing book bags with school supplies. Children around the community got the opportunity to meet some of JSU’s football players, take pictures, and get school supplies to last them the entire school year.

The money raised for the backpacks and school supplies were donations made to Alpha Omicron Pi sorority and the university’s football department. Alpha Omicron member Hannah Blue says her sorority sisters enjoy giving back.

More than 300 backpacks were filled with supplies this year. The leftover backpacks were donated to schools around Jacksonville so students or classrooms in need would get supplies.
