Meteorite Crashes in Local Area

 A big fireball followed by a sonic bomb lit up the sky over Alabama and Georgia last night. 
John Gentle of Vestavia caught the Meteorite on his security camera just after midnight. The meteorite was seen as far north as New Jersey. 

 

Meteor activity kicks into its highest gear during the month of August. There are no reports of injury or damage caused by the meteor. According to history.com, the first modern instance of a meteorite striking a human being occurred in Sylacauga on November, 30th, 1954.
