Former High School to be Turned Into Assisted Living Home
A former high school in Heflin will soon undergo redevelopment into a care community building. The former Cleburne County High School was recently purchased by Lathan and Coleman, LLC to be remolded into an assisted living and memory care community. The project is estimated at $12 million.
The former high school building was built back in 1936 where many memories were made for a lot of residents in Cleburne County, including Mayor Rudy Rooks. Mayor Rooks says he is thrilled to have a company see the value in the building. Mayor Rooks also talked about what it meant to be back inside his old high school.
The redevelopment project will encompass approximately 42 residences and new construction of a 16 bed memory care building. The assisted living and care community project is also expected to create 35 jobs.
