High School Football Season Opens This Week

The high school football season gets underway this week. The AHSAA officially dubs it week 0 with games on Thursday and Friday.

The first games of the season offer a lot of chances to see some high profile matchups. Perhaps the biggest one in East Alabama involves a pair of schools in the same county who haven’t played since 2009. Etowah and Gadsden City will face off Thursday night at Jim Glover Field in Attalla.

The Titans are looking to bounce back from a 3-7 season, while the Blue Devils have a lot of promise entering the season. Etowah is ranked 2nd in Class 5A preseason poll and are looking for their first ever win over the Titans.
