Munford Excited For Opener Against Oxford

TV24 Sports coverage of high school football preseason practice continued at Munford on Tuesday. The Lions are getting set to host the No. 4 Oxford Yellow Jackets in the season opener on Friday, August 24. Munford and Oxford have met just twice before in history (the last time was in 1974) and the Lions are looking for their first win over the Jackets. The two communities have proud football traditions so it is no surprised both the teams and towns are excited for a festive atmosphere.

(Hear from Munford head coach Bill Smith in the featured video)

The Lions have undergone a lot of changes in the last year. The team had to replace both coordinators, made the move from Class 4A to 5A and lost a lot of talent and experience from last year's team that finished 9-2. However, head coach Bill Smith is excited for the new challenge with a talented group.

Also, remember the Pigskin Roundup returns Friday night for another season! The show kicks off at 10:30 p.m.
