Randolph Park Elementary Awarded Reading Success Award

An Anniston City School has been recognized for reading success. Randolph Park Elementary School is one of 50 schools across the state that will receive earmarked funding for their efforts in showing most improvement in last year’s 3rd grade reading results.

50 schools will evenly divide $1,000,000 from the Alabama State Department of Education as a way of recognizing and rewarding teachers and students who have worked hard improving their reading skills. Teresia Hall has been the principal of Randolph Park Elementary for seven-years and she hopes the students take this accomplishment as a positive lesson.

Principal Hall also shares what she believes was the contribution to the students’ success. Xavion Richardson is a fourth-grader at Randolph Park Elementary and he says reading is one of his favorite things to do.

Each school will be awarded $20,000 and there will be a special recognition and awards ceremony September 13th at the Alabama State Department of Education. Governor Kay Ivey, Alabama legislators, and others will be in attendance to congratulate all 50 schools.
