Stepping Up Grant


The Alabama Department of Mental Health recently awarded Cherokee County with the ‘Stepping Up’ grant. The grant will provide funds to hire a case manager through the Cherokee-Etowah-Dekalb Mental Health.

The case manager would deliver coordinated services in order to decrease the number of people suffering from mental or co-occurring mental illnesses and substance use disorders inside jails and emergency rooms. The coordinator will also work closely with local community resources to assess barriers and facilitate access to to all available services and benefits.
