New US Senator to Take Seat of Senator McCain

Wednesday, September 5, 2018

The Governor for the state of Arizona announced earlier today that he will appoint former Senator Jon Kyl to fill the late Senator John McCain’s seat in the US Senate.

Arizona law requires the governor to appoint a member of the same political party to fill a seat opened by the departure of a senator. Kyl will remain as the placeholder until the 2020 elections.
