Gas Tax Increase Approved by Piedmont City Council

Thursday, September 6, 2018

The Piedmont City Council has adopted an ordinance to make the gas tax increase official. Motorists will now begin paying an additional $.02 per gallon within its city limits.
The new ordinance will also update the allocation of the tax, which was established in 1979.

The increase is expected to create additional revenue of $80,000 per year, which will go towards paving city streets. The new $.02 per gallon rate will place Piedmont in line with surrounding communities.
