Gamecocks Anticipate Festive Home Opener

Jacksonville State fans who did not make the trip to Montgomery for the season opener, will get the chance for their first live look at starting quarterback Zerrick Cooper this Saturday. The Clemson transfer tossed for 320 yards and two touchdowns against North Carolina A&T.

Following their first loss to a non-FBS opponent in more than 40 games, the Jacksonville State football team anxious to get back on the field. The Gamecocks will host Mississippi Valley State in the home opener on Saturday night. JSU players and head coach John Grass say the loss to North Carolina A&T on August 25th gave them a lot of perspective on how they can improve moving forward. The Gamecocks will meet the Delta Devils for the second time in school history. JSU won the previous meeting 49-7 in 2015. JSU has won its last 12 straight home openers.
