After one of the most lopsided wins in school history last week, the Jacksonville State football team moved up one spot in both the AFCA FCS Coaches Poll and the STATS FCS Top 25 on Monday.
The Gamecocks (1-1) rolled to a 71-0 win over Mississippi Valley State in their home opener on Saturday, the second-largest margin of victory in school history and the third-largest scoring total in school history. The easy win followed with JSU moving to No. 11 in the Coaches Poll and No. 12 in the STATS Poll when they were released.
It marks the 63rd-straight week that JSU has been ranked in the FCS Polls and inches the Gamecocks closer to the Top 10, where it spent 60-straight weeks before falling out in last week's polls.
The Gamecocks are the lone Ohio Valley Conference team in the STATS poll, while Austin Peay is 23rd in the Coaches Poll. APSU and Tennessee State each received votes in the STATS poll.
Defending champion North Dakota State sits atop both polls, while James Madison and South Dakota State are second and third, respectively. North Carolina A&T is fourth and Sam Houston State fifth in the STATS Poll, while Sam Houston State and Eastern Washington round out the coaches' top five.
The Gamecocks will take their second off week in three weeks before playing at home in back-to-back weeks, starting with a Sept. 22 matchup with Tennessee Tech. Homecoming vs. Austin Peay will follow on Sept. 29.
