Police Chase Ends With Men Behind Bars


Two men who led Glencoe Police on a car chase that resulted in a crash are now behind bars. According to the Glencoe Police Department, Benjamin Gary of Albertville was spotted driving at an extremely high rate of speed by an officer conducting a routine traffic stop on Green Valley Road. The officer abandoned the traffic stop in an effort to locate the vehicle Gary was driving. Another officer spotted Gary driving near the Big Chief and initiated a chase on highway 431 west.

The chase came to an end when Gary hit an 18 wheeler near the intersection of Meighan Boulevard and George Wallace Drive. Tyler Johnson of Geraldine was also in the car with Gary during the chase and narcotics were found inside the car. Gary was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance, Attempting to Elude along with other traffic violations. Johnson was also arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and Obstruction of Governmental Operations. Both Gary and Johnson are being held in the Etowah County Detention Center without bond.
