A local fire department has just received new equipment that will help it provide even better service to the community. Three new fire trucks trimmed in gold and equipped with a state-of-the-art computer system were delivered to the Oxford Fire Department. The new pumpers will replace three older ones.
Since technology has advanced tremendously since then, the company that made the trucks will send a certified trainer to instruct each firefighter on the new equipment and features built into the trucks. Chief Gary Sparks says the new trucks will make a huge difference on how fires and other emergencies are handled.
Before the older trucks are sold, certain materials have to be stripped off and applied to the newer trucks. Chief Sparks also says the trucks are expected to be in service within the next month.
