SpaceX Traveller Chosen for Maiden Voyage

We now know who will become the first person to ever take a private trip around the moon. SpaceX founder Elon Musk recently announced Japanese billionaire Yusaku Maezawa will be the first citizen passenger for his spacecraft. Maezawa is the founder of Japan’s largest retail website and he says he doesn't want to take this fantastic trip alone.

He will be inviting six to eight artists, designers, and other creative people on the journey around the moon. The trip is expected to take off in 2023 using the SpaceX Big Falcon Rocket, the most powerful rocket flying today.

Musk says the Big Falcon is still under development and will undergo several test launches before it takes on passengers. The average distance from Earth to the moon is about 238,000 miles.
