Leesburg Boat Landing Opens

The Alabama Division of Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries has opened its newest public boat landings on Weiss Lake. The Leesburg Boat Landing is now open after renovations began two years ago. Phase one of the renovation began in 2016 with the development of a dirt parking lot that’s large enough for more than 260 trucks and trailer rigs.

The next phase of construction began in 2017 with a four lane launching slab, a paved parking lot, along with two 50 foot floating access piers. The lot is large enough to host most local and regional fishing tournaments. Although the landing is back open for public use, phase three of construction will begin in 2020 with the addition of a 412 foot wharf style pier.
