No. 6 Jacksonville Ready For Matchup Against No. 2 Piedmont

Week five of the high school football season means a break from region play and that serves up great matchups and rivalries. TV24 Sports dropped by Jacksonville High School as the Golden Eagles put the finishing touches on their gameplan for Piedmont. The No. 7 Eagles (4A) will host No. 2 Piedmont (3A) at Golden Eagle Stadium in the first matchup between the schools since 1997.

Jacksonville has enjoyed a strong start to the season. The Eagles are 5-0 overall and 3-0 in region play. Meanwhile the Eagles offense has exploded for 213 points this season for an average of 42 points per contest. On the flip side, Piedmont is also undefeated (4-0, 3-0 Region) with big wins over then-top ranked Randolph County and then-undefeated Weaver. The Bulldogs are averaging 33 points per game.

A key playmaker to watch out for is Jacksonville's Ron Wiggins. The junior running back has accounted for more than 800 yards and 15 touchdowns in the last three weeks. Wiggins garnered statewide headlines with 409 yards and 5 TDs.
